As it turns out, the answer is pretty darn good. Honda cars found on Vertu Honda sell very well world-wide, and the Honda civic is one of the most popular cars in North America today. The Civic got its start in 1972, though it was sold as a 1973 model. Since its introduction, the civic has been through numerous major overhauls, upgrades and improvements, resulting in nine generations of reliable, economical vehicles. With forty years of engineering backing up such a product, it's not hard to see how Honda manages to consistently be in the top five auto companies in terms of market share.
What about the latest models? The new 2013 Honda civic manages to be just right in a lot of ways, and not particularly lacking in any. It retails for $18,000 to $25,000 depending on the exact model, placing it in an affordable range. Not incredibly expensive, but not terribly cheap either. It comes with a five-speed transmission, available in both automatic and manual versions. The steering is well-balanced and the suspension has been tightened for the 2013 model, resulting in a ride that is neither too soft nor too stiff. It also manages to include quite a few features for its price range. The base model comes with A/C, a USB port, Bluetooth and a rear-view camera. Cabin space isn't plentiful, but is quite enough for most adult drivers and passengers. Sadly, it is lacking just a bit in terms of cargo space.
The Si model comes with a larger engine, cranking out 201 horsepower as opposed to the base model's 140. The difference in acceleration is noticeable, so those looking for a more agile vehicle while wanting to stick with a Honda would do well to choose this model. The Hybrid is one of the more technologically advanced on the market today. It's based on an electric motor working in conjunction with the gasoline engine. The new tech really comes into play in the transmission. Rather than having a series of gears, the Hybrid has a metal push-belt which operates between two pulleys of variable widths in order to generate different ratios. The intended result being that whatever torque and speed the car is currently traveling at, the pulleys adjust their widths in order to obtain the optimum ratio for that torque.
Whatever you're looking for in a new car, the 2013 Honda Civic as something to offer that will fit your needs just right.
